Our Annual Winter online workshop has lead to more completed rugs than any other workshops I have given.
You work at your own pace, at any time you like and the step by step content is yours to keep.
All year people send pictures of their completed rugs and I see how much learning and joy they have gotten from the courses.
This makes me love to do them. I love seeing your success. All year long I get to see the fruits of your efforts as you post, send me pictures or even come into the studio with your completed rugs.
This year will be one of our most exciting and challenging courses yet as we focus on hooking abstract .
This course will be about hooking the sea in an abstract style. Think tidal pools, and underwater beauty. Seaweed, kelp, reef, shells, We will be working through the winter, thinking of the sea.
This Sea Garden Abstract Rug will be exciting and challenging to hook, but with the step by step instruction offered in these online videos I can lead you through it.
Hooking this workshop will be a reflective and deepening as we learn to move beyond realism using our imaginations to feel the sea in form, texture, shape and colour.
In this course we will be:
- Taking simple shapes and transforming then into elements of the sea through the power imagination, colour and texture.
- Exploring the idea of abstract in hooking rugs.
- Hooking unique materials to create depth and flow.
- Overcoming the notion of background and foreground to create flow in an abstract style.
- Blending wools for the abstract elements.
- Being inventive in our approach to hooking rugs.
- Learning about the power of colour contrast.
- Focusing on artistry in hooked rugs.
That time we spend at the beach is precious time. Time we have taken to escape from any stress we might have. It is much like our hooking time. For me the sea is about scent and presence of mind. The tide coming and going, letting things flow and that is what I want teach you in this winters' workshop.
The Studio will be offering several packages for this course, pattern, partial kit and a complete kit.
With over twenty videos and simple step by step instruction, as well as an interesting look at approaching rug hooking creatively, you'll be ready to create your own sea story!
